# Training Tips
Once Rhythm and Looseness are established the next steps can be focused on. This can be for a horses first competition season or for the stronger and developing competition horse. Demand is in the degrees of the level the horse is competing at. If one of the training basics is lost, go back and re establish to continue with the most success!
#OTT TIPS 3
Hoof health is an area that can become problematic if not taken seriously, even if they arrive with good feet. They often have thin walls with long toes, low heels and in old shoes when they arrive. The hoof care routine will need to match your short and long term goals.
#OTT TIPS 1
A short introduction to training an Off-the-track Thoroughbred, OTT, using a systematic approach. The thoroughbred industry produces quality racehorses, after they finish on the track they can be repurposed for many rewarding careers including eventing, dressage, show jumping and pony club disciplines, as well as companion and therapy animals. As an experienced trainer of horses and riders I share a training base and offer lessons as an approved coach within the Racing Queensland OTT program to take care of thoroughbreds after racing.
